Whoodles inherit the Wheaten Terrier famously soft, silky coat, which many owners consider the best-feeling doodle coat. However, that silky texture mats very easily, especially when wet or after playing in the rain. The coat transitions from puppy coat to adult coat between 8-18 months, and this transition period is notorious for severe matting. Daily brushing during the coat change is critical. Once the adult coat is established, 3-4 times per week brushing suffices. Whoodle coats darken or lighten significantly as they mature, so do not be surprised if your cream puppy becomes a reddish adult.
