We offer dedicated puppy intro grooming appointments at Animal Friends Pet Care — shorter sessions designed specifically for introducing young dogs to the grooming environment. We go at the puppy's pace, use lots of praise and treats (bring their favorites), and focus on positive associations over perfection.
Gentle shampoo and rinse to introduce the puppy to water and the grooming tub.
Introduction to the dryer at a low, non-scary setting. Brush-out to feel comfortable with handling.
Gentle nail trim to get puppies comfortable with paw handling — critical for future maintenance.
Gentle ear cleaning introduction. Helps puppies accept ear handling before it ever becomes an issue.

Puppy sessions are kept shorter than adult grooms to prevent overwhelm and end on a positive note.
Most vets recommend waiting until your puppy has received their second set of vaccinations — typically around 12–16 weeks. This protects them from kennel cough and other contagious conditions while their immune system is still developing.
🐾 The sooner a puppy starts grooming after vaccines are complete, the better. The socialization window closes around 16 weeks — puppies groomed before that age adapt to the experience much faster.
